Hello everyone,

I have been working on this website for some time now.  Trying to get it just right and putting it all together piece by piece.  I had been saving installing my blog for last because I didn’t want to spend too much time posting blogs and neglect the forums.  I was going to wait a bit longer to install the blog, but I feel that today… I just have to write my first blog.

I have spent a good part of the day adding the new Media Center page to New World.  When I got to actually adding various videos, my mood just completely deteriorated.  I wanted the media section to highlight videos about important issues around the world.  It holds true that “a picture is worth a thousand words”.  A lot of people are in denial about the state of the world or don’t want to accept it.  But how can you continue to believe that once the actual live imagery and evidence is right in front of your very own eyes?  So, this meant I needed to seek out worthy videos and preview them.

I started out with a video created by PETA.  A lot of people try to claim that PETA is all BS and none of what they say is true.  Once you see the videos, there is no denying the truth they share.  The video I watched and added to the site is about meeting the animal products we consume.  It consists of highly graphic footage of the horrid conditions and abuse that these animals suffer.  It shows you how sick and filthy these animals are when they are processed for our consumption.  It left me feeling completely disgusted and thinking about what I had in my refrigerator.  Videos like that always push me so close to being vegetarian, but I love meat.  I can’t imagine living without it.  So then I revert to… how can I still have my meat and know it comes from a good place?  Well, the only answer there is grow it myself.  I don’t trust even the farms that claim to be humane and clean.  You just never know.  I hate watching those videos.  I always feel very disturbed after.  But it’s something everyone should see.  Even myself from time to time.  It reminds me why I made this website.

The next video I added to New World was about air pollution.  I was completely shocked when the video started playing.  It was like seeing some sort of alternate universe.  I couldn’t believe a place like that really existed.  The air was a constant thick smog that appeared similar to what you might see on a normal foggy day.  The difference… it was all pollution.  The people there were sick and dying.  Nothing could grow there.  It was filthy.  And nothing was being done to fix it.  They just kept doing what they have done all along to make it that way.  It was like a forgotten planet or something.  I don’t think the majority of the world even knows places like that exist.  I had never seen anything like it and I have seen a lot.  How can we let this happen?  Now that people know about it, how are we not doing something about it?  Just because it’s not in our back yard now, doesn’t mean it won’t be later.  We are killing our planet.  It’s just so depressing.
