Over 100 US public and private schools closed due to the spread of Swine flu. Symptoms are similar to that of your common flu and could easily be mistaken for such.
Education Secretary Arne Duncan said in a statement Wednesday: "Use the same common sense and courtesy that you would use during winter flu season: Wash your hands, cover your mouth when you cough, and stay home if you are sick." Bird flu. Swine flu. what's next?? It leaves me wondering... how long until we have a pandemic on our hands? There's a lot of talk about the possibility, but I'm not really seeing many people taking it seriously. It's the same with the bird flu. There was plenty of news about it, but nothing really changed in they way the average person eats or prepares animal products. The one thing I do know is clear to me... our animal food supplies are not safe or sanitary enough. But what can you do? There's not enough people to stick with constant testing of meat and I know I don't want to eat anymore antibiotics or hormones that have been stuffed into my food. How about you? Let us know what your thoughts are on this and what (if any) steps you have taken to protect yourself.
