Default Ohio needs an ASPCA!

I used to work for the Humane Society in Hilliard, Ohio as the Humane Officer Dispatcher. I now volunteer as a animal foster parent for the shelter. I learned a lot about Ohio and thier laws... or should I say... lack of. Ohio is really behind the times when it comes to protecting animals. Fines and jail time are nowhere steep enough. They are just a slap on the wrist.

What I think is really unfortunate is that we do not have an ASPCA. Our Humane Society does a great job with the resources they have and what Ohio will allow them to do, but we need more. We need help. I believe that every state should have an ASPCA. If we had one, I sure would be working there!

Default How do we get an ASPCA here?

You know, I am not 100% sure. I think in order to start one, you need the funding. Maybe some sort of sponsor. I am not sure if it's like starting a franchise or something. I don't think is government run, but then again, I am not sure. That is something to look into. I have thought about it, but the list of mountains to climb is already long for me. Haha.

Default how do you open an aspca office?

that's a good question. i would like to know to. i mean, if it's a matter of funding, i wouldn't mind donating to help open one up. i agree there aren't enough places like this. the sad thing i see happen to often are the animal shelters getting shut down or having to cut back on the help they offer because they don't have enough money.
