Default How About The Cruelty Of Horse Racing...

In the last five years I have witnessed more horses go down and have to be put to sleep than I have ever seen. As bad as it used to be, it is now worse. All caused by one thing...The love of money...

I watched all the horse races leading to the Triple Crown...I thought that Big Brown was awesome, but I also saw the filly go down and be put to sleep on the track...What does this say for us humans? Ride them into the ground..Give them some more pills and push them some more...Get your name in the paper for winning and let the animals in the stands bet and wear their beautiful hats and do their thing...I can say without a doubt if I was offered a ticket and $10,000 free to bet I would not go...All these people have to do is to look into the eyes of these poor animals...The pleading look...But it is only the green back that they see....

I have more respect for the jockey who rode Big Brown than I ever thought possible...He pulled that horse up when he knew that he was hurting...He probably saved his life yet he has been critized up, down and sideways for not pushing him farther....Darn, I am forgetting again...Who are the animals in this world?...We that push hurt or the poor animal that dies for it...TC, C

Default Horse Races ARE Cruel!

Yet another thing you and I agree on. I have thought about this a time or two. One of my favorite movies is "National Velvet" and if you don't know... the situation is very similar except that they don't end up putting the horse to sleep. I have always admired horses (my favorite animal and my chinese zodiac) for their courage and stamina. It amazes me how horses can be crippled, in agonizing pain, and they still try with all their might to do what we demand of them. I have read and seen many times where race horses become "broken" and cannot race anymore. So they are sent off to auction or slaughter houses. By then, those auctions/slaughter houses neglect and torture them even more. Many investigations have been made on these situations. I am really big on animal rights. I have spent a lot of time researching things like this and it's left me disgusted with the human race.
