I am thinking about selling my house and downgrading to a trailer in a park. I was talking to my mother in law who lives in a nice trailer park. She owns the trailer so all she has to pay is lot rent. Her lot rent per year is what I pay per MONTH! I know it's not as great as having a house, but I sure could use a break on the monthly house payments. I can't help but think about what I could do with all that extra money.

Trailer parks aren't as bad as they sound... as long as you find a nice community. I have seen many that are dumps and really should be bulldozed to the ground, but I have also seen some that are very clean and modernized.
They do have their downfalls. Trailer parks do not value well and I hear that at times it can be hard to resell your lot and trailer. They are not as structurally sound as a house and often times the materials used are of much cheaper quality. But, that is why you get them for a much cheaper price. I can tell you though, in all honesty, I lived in a couple of trailer parks growing up and they were not bad at all. I have had family and friends live in them as well. The trailers were always warm and cozy and made decent homes. Worst thing you need to worry about is a tornado coming through. They do not hold up well to those. You are better off getting out and laying in a ditch somewhere. If you are seeking a cheaper way of life, then find yourself a nice clean, well kept park. But if you can affor a house, that will always be a better investment.
