Okay so I must first start out by saying that I am in no way racist. I believe that everyone should be treated equally.
Having said that, I want to know why it is still acceptable to have things like "Black Entertainment Television", "United Negro College Fund", or anything else of that nature? It seems really contradictory that such things are still in existance. Society supposedly wants to move past the racism, but people won't let go of the past. Everyone wants to continue to take everything that happened a ridiculously long time ago personally today and continue to put emphasis on the color of skin. If I created the "White Entertainment Television" station, you better believe I would be called racist and everyone would be trying to put a stop to it. It seems very hipocrytical to me. We will never move on unless we drop the segregation from everything. That means no black this, no white that. Why can't it just be "Entertainment Television"? You have to throw a color in there? Come on people. It's time to move on to something better.

I wanted to add a little about something I saw on the Tyra Banks show. She did a show about the different shades of black/white skin. She had lined all these women up from dark to light skin and discussed how people felt about each skin color. The reactions from the audience were really sad.
Some people thought this shade was beautiful, that shade was ugly, etc. If you aren't dark enough then you aren't black even though both your parents are black. I discovered that black society actually fights amongst themselves about the varied shades of black/brown and people are shunned if they aren't dark enough. I just thought... What?? Are you serious?? This is so petty and ridiculous. I get the finger pointed at me because I am white and therefor MUST be racist, but the same people pointing the finger at me... are being racist towards their own people? Does anyone else see how ignorant all this is? It's just skin color people. It doesn't make you any more or less of a human. We all have feelings, we all have hearts, we all just want to live happy lives. What the **** is wrong with us that we can't just do that. People are so obsessive over this and it's so unnecessary. Thanks goes to Tyra for pointing out the nonsense of it all.

If anyone has ever accused the United States of racism, I believe that this campaign for President that we have seen has wiped this off the slates...I have been impressed by Obama...He is young, but he also shows leadership that this country craves....
Who wins the election is yet to be seen....BUT my overall thoughts on the campaigning and how both canidates have handled themselves is pretty good...Black, white or yellow, we must be united to get past this mess that we have gotten ourselves in.... Just my thoughts... Caroline

Yeah, racism is part of the obsolete paradigms.
I once heard a businessman say, "There isn't any more Americans, Mexican or Chinese. Only rich people and poor people." We need to join hands and sing a wonderful song. Diversity is the spice of life. |

I think that America has become too politically correct. Its hard to say anything about someones color or background without being called a racist. I do think that there is a lot of reverse racism in the States though.

I still don't get why it's ok for black people to say... that word. But if anyone who is not black says it, even in the context one of their black friends/family members would say it, then they are shocked. The word should just be banned from the english language altogether. Like crack is banned.

I have had the feeling since the election, that this country is more joined than I have seen it in a long time...Black people are more friendly to white and white to the black...Let's hope that we have all learned a lesson....
Take care, Caroline
