This thing about gasoline is serious...I believe our government realized how serious it was long ago....But really what is a government...Each party pushes this problem on to the next group of people coming in...I am not into politics...I hate politics but I do have a brain....I recall years ago when I used to ask my husband whether there be enough oil for us in our lifetime and his answer was always yes....But the problems of this yes went on and on...In cases like this the rich get richer and the poor get poorer but what else is new....
Like everyone else, I am hurting with this new price but at the moment not as bad as many people are...If it continues to escalate, we, like many others, will be beat up....We got a new car in December....What I thought was a hybrid was not...Up until last week I would have swore to this...But then swearing is something that on some occasions, I am known to do...I know that we had talked about the hybrid at the dealer's and since the type of car we purchased was so difficult to find, we did not pursue it...This I found out 5 days ago when I insisted we had a hybird....My husband cleared me up on this... .He said that we would have had to pay another $15,000 or so and truthfully could not have afforded it..Besides that they did not have any.....But I do know that it gets 27 mpg. and there is some gadget by the navigation system that show each amount of gas that we use and how the tank is going...For me knowing this is good...It took me three weeks to learn how to drive it with the ease that I drive a car but then this is me...I am a very good driver but I still don't know much about it, nor do I care.. This one was costly enough...Taking into consideration the high cost of gas we have only put 5,000 miles on this car as of now...For us this is not much...I think we are going to have to look into nuclear energy...It will be a must...We are not going to live otherwise...There should be world control over what kind and where to go with this....What I speak about is not my world but yours....I have lived my life and it was wonderful...It still is....I am one of the people that is blessed....BUT.. Years ago pioneers traveled out West to discover the new world...They were poor and wanted a new life...The rich stayed behind and let them do the work...They would reap the benefits of the poor people doing this and fighting off the enemies....Unfortunately this is also a sad story of the Indian and their civilization..... According to the News, traveling is down for the second Holiday in a row...That is wonderful news for the gasoline crisis but for the economy and many people it is not what they wanted...Each business suffers because of what is happening...Again because of our dependency on oil.... This lesson that we are learning at this time is an important lesson...We are being asked to pay ridiculous prices at the pump for gas...BUT there is a message here for all people to hear........You can't change what you can't change....There is only so much oil and it cannot be replanted......I hope this time that we all remember this well...... Take care, Caroline

Oh man... it gets me really irritated about this whole gas issue. I still cannot see any reasoning for the ridiculous prices being charged for gasoline, why there is not more availabillity of other fuel types or methods of transportation for people at a price they can actually afford, and why the heck the oil companies are making these billion dollar profits?? I honestly believe the only way things will change quickly is if "the people" (citizens) rebel and protest as a whole and demand that things change... and change NOW. That's the only way. Otherwise, it's always going to be the same thing. Government poking around and talking... talking... talking... about what SHOULD happen. They are worthless when it comes to getting things done. I really think there should be more then one president of the US. Because one person just can't handle everything all at once. It's too much for one person to make all these executive decisions on. I think that's why so much gets put on the back burner. I mean, imagine being the president and you have every question and issue you could ever think of being thrown at you from billions of people at all times of the day and night. How would you manage all that?
You are so right. When the oil is gone, it's gone. People don't get it. Then what will we do? I want to buy a Ford Fusion because I like them and they get good gas mileage. But I am torn about whether or not I should buy or lease. On one hand, I don't want to be bound by a limited amount of mileage that comes with a lease. But on the other hand, if I lease, I can trade for another car when a new alternatively fueled vehicle comes out. I just don't know what to do about that.
