Thumbs down Health insurance premium went up $20!

I am pretty annoyed today. I got a letter in the mail from United Health Care telling me that they are increasing my monthly payment by $20! Being that I am self-employed, I have to buy my own private policy. I have no employer to provice health insurance for me.

Just obtaining good coverage for a private individual policy was a nightmare. I don't have a large income so I was stuck getting a high deductible plan. What was worse was that I needed a plan that offered maternity benefits. Do you know that I could not find a single plan that did everything I needed at Anthem? I had no choice but to choose UHC. But even so, the amounts that UHC is going to pay if I do get pregnant are not much more then what I could have saved up myself if I put my monthly premium into my savings account instead of paying it to them. I debated for a long time about whether or not I should bother with the maternity, but since I really am no good at saving money myself, I figured I better. Besides, you can't even get the same rates at the hospital as the insurance companies do (just another way to screw us into buying insurance). What irritates me is that 50% of my monthly payment is just for the maternity benefits.

On top of that, I was told that if I cancel my maternity plan now (even though I never used it), I can never sign up for it again... EVER. What a scam!! So I am screwed either way. My husband and I decided to wait to have a baby and now I am stuck paying for this plan because I can't cancel. It's basicly throwing away all that money I paid into it. AAAAGH!

Anyway, so I WAS paying $202 per month for this crappy insurance policy with the ridiculously high deductible and now I have to pay $222. I really really hope that president Obama does something about this. My husband and I don't have a lot of money and this expense is just ludacris. Especially when I KNOW that the insurance companies aren't even paying out all the money they should be. They are denying claims left and right and STILL taking more and more money from the people paying into it. It's just not right.

Default Insurance hikes

My insurance premiums have gone up to and I'm pretty pissed about it. I can't afford it as it is.
