Question Increases in public school taxes

Today our city voted on an increase in public school taxes that would help fund the needs of our schools. My husband is completely against the increase as he nearly has a heart attack every time he sees how much taxes are taken out of his paycheck already. I too am tired of so much money being owed for taxes.

I am on the fence about this though. On one hand, I do agree that just like inflation, there needs to be increases on taxes periodically. With the increase in population and the expenses of advancement, the cost will always increase over time.

On the other hand, like my husband said, a lot of the projects the schools are talking about are things that should be paid for by the parents of the students. Examples are sports and things like that. I am not sure if I agree with that or not. Especially for low income families, that could mean a child that would desire to join a program could not. It doesn't seem fair.

Ugh, but still... more taxes? I just don't know. We don't even have children.
