US Stimulus Payment

This whole thing with this Economic Stimulus Payment seems pointless and silly to me. Granted, I know there are some people out there that were happy to get it.

So, it's supposed to help stimulate the economy by getting people to buy groceries, gas, and things of that nature. So how many of you actually used it for that? Probably hardly anyone. Everyone surely used it to pay their bills. Especially since most people are in debt to someone.

Then there are the poor people who can't make end meet, but owe back taxes or have delinquent student loans. Usually, that's because they couldn't pay their bills, they couldn't afford the cost of living, and couldn't pay the taxes. If you ask me, those are the people that really need the help. So instead of sending them a payment to buy food, gas, and bills... their payment went directly to the IRS or the student loans. Wow, I bet that sure helped those people a whole lot! I bet they are so happy to hear about how the neighbor got their payment and used it to take care of their family... and... well gee... they paid down part of their taxes or student loan. That far outweighs the need for rent or groceries any day. Right? Yeah... I don't think so. If you haven't been funneling your money into the government... then they are not helping you. They are making sure they get paid first. I honestly think it's a joke.

Granted the stimulus check was nice for the pockets... it really makes me wonder how we can afford to give out 300-1200 per person/couple.. when we are having such issues with getting good resources for schools supplies, keeping jobs in the usa, our social security taxes and beneifits....

Honestly when Clinton was in office.. the economy did NOT have as many debt issues as it does today..*sigh*

I definately agree with you there. That money should have went to something more important. Just like all the money being sent out to help other countries and fund war. It should be used here to get us up on our feet.

Like my mom said, even though Clinton messed around on his wife, he really was turning our country around. We had a good thing there despite his mess up. But hey, he is a man just like any other man. And we all know men screw up when it comes to sex.
