Default Will Obama allow big oil companies to drill for oil in Arctic?

I read an article last week from the Defenders of Wildlife regarding current plans to potentially allow big oil companies to start drilling for oil in the arctic Chukchi sea. The Defenders of Wildlife are trying to gather support to urge president Obama not to allow this dangerous activity.

I personally have to agree with with DOF. Didn't we learn anything from the BP oil spill? There is just too much at risk to allow this to happen. Not only do we have to worry about future oil spills, but as DOF explains, the act of drilling and transporting oil and materials is destructive to the environment.

What amazes me... for so long we have been talking about trying to find other renewable energy sources to replace oil. Yet, I am not hearing much of anything about any research or potential finds yet. All is quiet lately on the research of renewable energies front. Why aren't we focusing on new resources instead of finding more ways to suck the earth dry, add to polution, and destroy things?

For more information visit the Defenders of Wildlife.
