Lightbulb Is commercial space travel in our future?

I say YES... commercial space travel is most certainly in our future! I have to admit, I got a little excited reading CNN's article about SpaceX sending their commercial rocket successfully into space.

It's kind of sad to think of NASA doing away with it's space program and relying solely on commercial companies to transport for them. But I really think that is just in our nature to resist change. We have come to know NASA for their amazing accomplishments and being pioneers of space research and travel.

However, I think pushing space travel and research into the commercial field is very smart. It takes a ton of financial burden off of our already struggling government. It opens everything up to new ideas, new funding sources, and I more progress. It's always been proven true that commercial entities with big ideas and the money to back them create amazing new ventures. Take the car and airplane manufacturers and their histories, for example... Look at what they have become!

I believe it's only a matter of time before commercial companies are shuttling people back and forth to other planets for vacations on space stations. A trip to the moon will be like booking a flight from New York to California... more expensive and timely of course.

I'm sure that just like everything else we have invented, it will be far too expensive for the average person initially. But mark my words, some day... it will be just as accessable as the NY to CA flight!
