Lightbulb Why isn't the media talking about the BP oil spill?

I was just having an interesting conversation with some friends of mine today about the BP oil spill. I wanted to share it with you...

Steve: One more thing before I retire for the evening...

Why is it that we had a 'disaster' with the Gulf Coast BP Oil spill, but we have not heard any updates for quite some time on what is going on down there??? Is this the media's attempt to keep up from knowing the truth about the true damages that were caused down there??

Steve: AND....I would like to know who thinks we should support BP rather than have that company pay for the damages on their own. I saw they caused the mess, they pay to clean it up. Why are gas prices increasing (AGAIN!!!)??? Are they trying to make the citizens pay for the clean up now, too??? RIDICULOUS!!!! WHEN ARE WE GOING TO STAND UP TO THE MESS THESE COMPANIES (EVEN OUR POLITICIANS) CREATE/CAUSE AND SAY ENOUGH IS ENOUGH AND WE WILL TAKE NO MORE????

Jodi: Ya know... i was thinking the same thing the other day..

Steve: Right on, Jodi! \m/ They need t be straight and stop lying to us. Period!

Mark: It certainly didn't help that the drilling moratorium was put in place. This will continue to affect domestic oil production for almost a year. Mmmmmm $4-5/gal gas is just what I wanted. So tasty.

Steve: Right on, Mark! We seriously need to step up our efforts and do more than protest. I seriously think a call to arms is where it's at.

Monica: I thought they fixed that shit?

Jodi: They never fix anything.... they just stop talking about it and hopes that will make everyone forget about it and maybe... just maybe it will go away...

Vicky: To be fair...we are the consumers who create the demand for oil and none of this would have happened if we could clean up our act and stop depending on oil. A whole island community has already converted to natural energy sources somewhere near the new england states...I forget the name of it.

Vicky: It took a huge initial investment to set up the island for this, but it works and they have been living this way for about... 10 yrs or so? Don't quote me on the time frame.... Anyways, just playing devil's advocate, we and our government are as much to blame as BP. It could have happened to any oil company. We just need to stop using the nasty stuff! (Getting off my soapbox now..)

Steve:
I agree Vicki...but why are we bending over and taking it when we aren't getting enough scratch for the work we do just so we can go to and from and never get ahead. It's B.S.

Jodi is right! They never fix it...they hope we'll just forget ...about it. We need to call em to the carpet and stop paying for their mishaps....

But with the beans we're paid, we will never afford the construction of a new community...they'll tax too high, send the mosquito trucks through the streets and kill off the undesirables in the process and then take the most healthy, 'best looking' humans and pull a Hitler in the name of One Nation Under GAWD! This country is a joke! Yeah! I said it!

I am done burying my head in the sand!

Marissa:
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/searchS/?q=gulf+coast 4 articles are from yesterday alone.

we bend over backwards bc the alternative is worse. once the alt. is just as bad, then people will rise up. until then, most people are comfortable eno...ugh to not give a ****.

Steve: Monica: They 'fixed' their stories to match & fed us what they wanted us hear. Thing is, stopping the leak is one thing, but what about the damage caused to the environment due to millions (?) of gallons of oil??

Me: This is EVERYONE's fault. In all the time we have been sucking the earth dry of oil, it's smart to assume that at some point, someone or something is going to **** up or fail. We are only human and our methods are never perfect. Yes, BP needs to deal with the mess they made. But the human race is just as much to blame for not standing up and making changes so we wouldn't be putting ourselves in these risky situations in the first place. We all knew what needed to be done BEFORE that happened and even now, yet not enough people will get off their asses and make **** happen. A good example: the idiot Nicki on the morning RadioU was making fun of Arizona for spending $10k on new LED street lights. She wa saying they only bought it because it was a new fancy toy and that they never should have spent the people's tax money on it. I mean, she was talking mad trash about government spending on those lights. I thought, "You idiot! They use an insane amount less energy! That's why they converted! Just the same reason why people are using LEDs for everything else now. Energy efficiency!" People are stupid, lazy, cheap, afraid of change, and that is our problem. As for the media, they only care about what's hot at the moment and then they move on to the next hot thing. It's all about publicity and money with them. They don't really give a ****. It's all a show to them.
