How many times have you experienced this?? Hopefully you aren't one of those people who does this.
I am at the grocery store looking at hair color. There are 3 other ladies also looking at hair color. Off in the distance, on the other side of the store, we hear a child's screams of anger echoing all the way to where we were. Us ladies continue our search for the perfect hair color. The screaming continues for what seemed like forever. Then it slowly got closer and closer. Soon, the chaos was upon us. A young mother walks slowly by pushing a cart. In the cart is a small baby and trailing behind her is an older toddler. Mom is carelessly looking at items on the shelves, strolling along as if nothing is wrong. All the while, the child trailing behind her is in a fit of rage. Screaming "I WANT IT! I WANT IT! MOMMY I HATE YOU!" He is beating on her legs with his little fists and kicking her with all his might. She continues on, as if oblivious. Ignoring the child as he makes a scene. Us four women look at each other in shock and shake our heads. That is just ridiculous to me. First of all, why would you subject everyone in the store to that nonsense? Second of all, why aren't you disciplining your child? And third, ignoring him obviously is NOT WORKING. I just couldn't believe it. So my story doesn't end there. I find my hair color, look for a few other things, pay, and head to the car. As I am pulling out of my parking spot, there she is... mom... child screaming and kicking behind her... still. She looked tire, worn out, and like she had given up. All I could feel at that moment was sorry for her. Sorry that she hadn't found a better way yet.

I've seen quite a few of mothers who are like that in stores (and at home)...it can be depressing to consider the children's future. I can only hope they learn about the Tao, and find happiness and learn to grow a garden.
